The Mahatma Junior College of Education, Chembur, in collaboration with the Inner Wheel Club of Chembur Tiara, jointly organised a role-play Competition titled “Azadi Ka Amrit.” on 13th August 2026
The competition aimed to familiarise student-teachers with the lives and contributions of both well-known and lesser-known freedom fighters and social reformers. It provided student-teachers with an opportunity to portray these inspiring personalities and share their remarkable contributions with their peers. The programme also sought to nurture a deep sense of respect, admiration, and gratitude towards the revolutionaries and social reformers who played significant roles in India’s freedom struggle and social transformation. All the student-teachers of Mahatma Junior College of Education participated enthusiastically in the competition. The participants brought historical personalities to life through their creative and engaging role-plays.
The competition was judged by Ms. Geeta Bahari, Ms. Kalpana Desai, and Ms. Sangeeta Barara, members of the Inner Wheel Club of Chembur Tiara. Kapil Davare, who portrayed Dr. B. R. Ambedkar, secured the First Prize. Shalu Tiwari won the Second Prize, while the Third Prize was jointly awarded to Sakshi Prajapati and Sudha Rani.
Dr. Sushma Wazi, President, Inner Wheel Club of Chembur Tiara, and Ms. Geeta Makwana, Secretary, addressed the gathering and shared words of encouragement and appreciation for the enthusiastic participation of the student-teachers.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Resmy Varghese, Principal, Mahatma Junior College of Education, emphasised the transformative role of teachers in society. She stated that teachers are harbingers of social change. Just as the freedom fighters fought to secure freedom for the nation, teachers empower students by educating them, nurturing their potential, and giving them the wings of freedom to face the challenges of life with confidence and courage.
The programme was an enriching and inspiring experience for the student-teachers, reinforcing the values of patriotism, social responsibility, courage, and empowerment.
