Encouraging and supporting literacy everywhere, 8th September marks International Literacy Day. The day focuses on the importance and value of literacy. In an age of enlightenment, technology and modern living, it’s amazing that it’s estimated that nearly 800 million adults worldwide lack basic literacy skills. Literacy is a matter of dignity and human rights. Literacy is also an essential foundation of education. International Literacy Day aims to highlight the importance and value of literary education for individuals and groups, and for the wider global culture. Because a nation better taught is a nation empowered.
In commemoration of Mahatma Education Society’s Golden Jubilee Year, Mahatma Junior College of Education is organising an Online Quiz Competition on the occasion of International Literacy Day.
